BROADCASTING PROGRAMMES.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir,—After a long and painful experience, listeners-in have, at last, mustered up sufficient courage to protest against the low-grade programmes put. over the air nearly every evening by --3YA.''; These programmes constitute quite a standing joke with many of us, and only get switched off perhaps three times .put of four. I refer, of course, to • the 8 to 10 sessions. Some of your correspondents complain of the too frequent repetition of many musical items. I notice, that not only items, but what is even worse, sections of about four or sis bars are sometimes repeated' 16 times ad nauseam and represent an item. Then, again, when.a decent solo is rendered, the piano accompanist fires off such a devastating broadside that it can't be heard above, the din. This is a very sore point with 3YA clients, and has often formed tho subject of protest—but all to no purpose. My every-day opinion is, of course, that we are being badly exploited, a'nd this is being done under Government patronage, which, to put it mildly, is a bad feature in our case, and there is no doubt whatever that the .time has arrived for us to take concerted action to get some of our grievances remedied Our present relations with «a are b'v no means satisfactory, and constitute one long record °f defaults, fiascoes, make-shifts ana apologies. Tho less said about bupdav Says the better-for reasons too numerous to niention.-Your^c^^
