Steps are being taken by the Mayor of Timaru (Mr G. J. Wallace) in the matter of the visit of Mr L. S. Amery, the Secretary of State for the Dominions, to Timaru on December Ist, with a view to having his stay considerably lengthened. Mr Amery's itinerary sets out that ho will be in Timaru only a few minutes, pausing to meet tho Mayor and Councillors on his way south. It is considered that in view of the importance of the town, his visit should*be extended to afford residents ample opportunity of meeting him.
