MAIL THEFT.
GOOD HAUL FROM LINER. (BY CABUS—PK«SS ASSOCIATION— COPYRIGHT.) (ACSTSALIAjf AXD- N.Z. CABLB ASSOCIATION*.) SYDNEY, October 24. On tho arrival of the Australian steamer Cathay it was found that some registered mail had been stolen. It is believed the thieves made a good haul. The Postal Department considers that the robbery was committed by experts. It has yet to ascertain whether the robbery was worked aboard the liner or before tho mails were shipped at Marseilles. It is stated that New Zealand mail was part 'of that stolen. NORTH ISLAND PORTION INTACT (PHESS ASSOCIATION TELEOBAH.) AUCKLAND, October 24. linglish mail ex the Cathay reached Auckland by the Royal Mail liner Aorangi, this morning. The Aorangi brought the Auckland portion onlv of the mail and according to the waybills it was intact, none being miss'"lf any New Zealand mail has been stolen it will be from the southern portion, which wiU reach Wellington from SydAey to-morrow morning by the Marama..
