LAUNCH ADRIFT.

(PRESS ASSOCIATION TZLIOBAItj WELLINGTON, October 24. A launch got into difficulties in the heavy seas of the harbour yesterday, and drifted about helplessly for several hours. It contained a party who had been fishing off Ngahauranga in th© morning. When caught by the heavy weather, the craft was carried across towards Somes Island, the engine refusing to start. The vessel finally reached shallow water near Petone, and dropped anchor till the sea moderated sufficiently to allow it to be beached. One- of the party, John Johnson, aged 19, single, had an arm fractured while the launch was being buffeted. The Union Steam Ship Company's launch and a pilot launch in the meantime searched for the craft, but misty rain prevented them sighting the disabled launch. Several yachts also had a struggle to get back to their moorings.
