BY SEA Situated 8 miles distant from the Cathedral City, there are few suburbs that can offer such ideal facilities to the resident as Sumner. The bracing atmosphere, the normal winter temperatures, and the attractive building sites have induced many business men to take up residence and rear happier, healthier families under ideal conditions. The Esplanade, of late, has been very much improved by the erection of a decorative row of rock-based electric lamp standards; these now line practically the whole of the sea-front, and stand as sentinels to the memory of fallen heroes in the Great War. Sumner has every facility that a seaside resort has to offer for the convenience and welfare of visitors—whether picnic parties of holiday-makers-Surf Bathing—Tennis—Golf^-Croquet—Boating, etc., whilst the children are ably catered for with swings, see-saws, and many other juvenile attractions. Trampers will thoroughly appreciate the beautiful walks on the surrounding hills, and will often be tempted to stand and admire the wonderful seascapes from the many angles of the road. oliday in Sumner!
