TECHNICAL POINTS.
FALL-SINCLAIR OIL TRIAL. (BT CABLE—PRKSB ASSOCIATION— COPTBIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND K.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) WASHINGTON, October 21. The trial of Fall and Sinclair entered a technical stage when an argument arose regarding the admissability of Sinclair's testimony before the Senate Oil Investigation Committee on December 4th, 1923. The discussion at this point became so lengthy and involved that the Judge oxeused the jury over the week-end, and in the meantime prepared to hear argument on the points in dispute. Before this dispute arose both sides won important points. The defence read a letter which Fall wrote to the late Senator Lafollette five days after the lease had tyeen signed, saying: "There is no objection to the widest publicity." The prosecution produced two witnesses, who struck at the defence claim that Fall issued the lease' irom patriotic motives to save Navy oil from drainage by adjacent drilling. Both witnesses testified that they investigated the drainage situation, and reported that the Teapot Dome was not endangered.
