A petition has been presented to the House in favour of croating' a model aboriginal State be managed ultimately by a native tribunal, as far as possible according to their own laA s and customs, but prohibiting cannibalism and cruel rites.

The petition urges that provision should be made so that ulfnint-' the Government of the State might be conducted by the aborigines, _ persons oth"- than aborigines, cyepting Federal and Government officMs, missionaries, teachers, and agricultural instructors, to bo prevented from entering the State.

Representation of the aborigines in the Federal Parliament is also proposed, somewhat on the lines of the Maoris dn New Zealand.
