Mr H. Witchell, who has been connected with the Bank of New.Zealand for the past 41 years, will, retire at the end of November. Mr Witchell has for many years been manager of the Bank's Otaki branch.
Mr E.. Clark, J.P., of Ashburton, is to bo- appointed a coroner under tho Coroners Act, 1908, and is to exercise .jurisdiction in the Ashburton County in addition to Mr James Cow, District Coroner, who at present is indisposed.
T;. New Zealand athlete, Dr. A. E. Porrittj now in England, haß been recommended by the New Zealand Olympic Council as New Zealand's represcntati-? on the International Olympic Committee, in succession to Mr 'J. P. Firth, C.M.G.
Dr. James Hight, Professor of History at Canterbury College, who has been replacing Professor A. J. • Grant, at Leeds University, will leave England to-day for America, where he will embark upon a lecture tour of the leading universities before returning to New Zealand.
