Overstayed Leave. iljuolulu, October ~' \—Norman Cohen and Thelma Levy, of Sydney, who, while en route to Vancouver by the Niagara, overstayed when they went ashore on 1 * October 7th, and applied the following day for permissio to travel via San Francisco to Vancouver, but were .rrcsted and detained under bond, have appealed to Washington. They allege high-handed treatment from the immigration officials who, they say, placed the worst possible complexion on the facts of their case. Meteoric Display. Brisbane, October 21.—A remarkable meteoric display was seen at Eockhampton on Tuesday nig't, three meteors falling within a few hours. Two burst in mid-air brilliantly lighting up the whole countryside. World's Sculling Title.
