OXFORD. The anniversary celebrations of the Oxford Methodist Church were continued on Wednesday evening with a tea and public meeting. Mr E, Woodfield, trust secretary, presided. The balance-sheet of the trust showed! income £32 9s 6d and expenditure £44 18s 4d. Considerable improvements had been effected at the parsonage. Apologies for absence were received from the Revs. Mr Turner (Baptist) and B. G. Fox (Anglican), and addresses were given by Messrs G. Wood (Presbyterian), Barnes (Salvation Army), C. W. Brown, the home missionary, and W. Greenslade, chairman of tli,e district. Musical items were given by the choir," Messrs Cederman, Magrath, and Hawke, Mrs Whyte, and Miss It. Comyns, and Misses Jordan and Roi. The quarterly meeting of the Oxford Methodist Church, was held on Wednesday afternoon, when the Rev. W. Greenslade, chairman of the district, presided over a good attendance of officials. The membership, 84 adult, 16 junior, and 25 infant, was reported the same as last quarter. Encouraging reports were received from th«Sunday School and Bible Class. The balance-sheet showed the income tor the quarter to be £2 14s 7d less than tho exDendliture. The total deficiency is now" £33 18s sd. Contributions to the home mission fund were £lB 2s 9a, the assessment being exceeded It was decided not to ask <or a home mission grant. Mr C. W. Brown, home missionary, received a unanimous invitation to continue in the district. Mr C. C. Early was. aPP° int « d representative to Synod, with Mr &. Woodfield substitute. FERNSIDE. The following cricket teams have been selected to rjlay on Saturday: A team, against Woodend at home— E. L. Baifey, C. H. Hinton, G. A. Milne, J. R. Macdonald, I. Morris, C. Lindsav, C. Minchington, R. Corbett, R. Sutherland, H. Sutherland, H. Lill; emergency, H. Wilson, tf team, against Eyreton af Eyreton— K. Bowman. C Bowman, A. Leech, R. Morris, W. Purvis, K. Purvis, A. Much interest is being taken in the plain and fancy-dress ball, organised by the spinsters and bachelors. The proceeds will go to the Hall funds. To-morrow, Darfield A team will play Sheffield A, at Darfield, and DarCeld B will plav Greendale B, at Greendale. On Labour" Dav, the Darfield team will plav against St". John's, Christchurch, on the Darfield ground. In the evening a concert and dance given by the St. John's Club will be held in the Memorial Hall.
