ILLEGAL STRIKE.
COLORADO COAL MINERS CEASE WORK. (BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN A.NU N.Z CABLE ASSOCIATION.) NEW YORK, October 19. Although 6000 Colorado coal miners affiliated with the Industrial Workers of tho World responded to the latter's strike order, only part of the State's coal fields is yet seriously affected. The Governor, Mr W. H Adams, declared that there was nothing at present in the situation to cause anxiety, but he was prepared to act if an emergency arose. The strikers seek more pay and shorter hours. The United Mine Workers, although in the minority in most fields, denounced the strike and attempted to carry on their usual duties. Meantime thp strikers faced an ultimatum from the State and county authorities that all pickets would be arrested, because the strike call was illegal.
