Jumble Sale. A jumble salo will be held in the Presbyterian Sunday School room this afternoon. The proceeds are in aid of tho church funds. Golf. Tho Lyttollon Golf Club will close its season at Oharteris Bay on Monday. Tho presentation of prizes will take place during the afternoon, and driving, approaching, and putting competitions will bo held for both senior and junior rlayors. Members of other golf clubs aro cordially invited to participate. A launch loaves for Oharteris Bay at 11.30 a.m., and will return at 5.30 p.m. Yachting Season. The Canterbury Yaoht and Motor-Boat Club will open the sailing season with a picnic at Diamond Harbour on Monday next. Launches will leave the club shod at tho dock at 10 a.m., and hot water, tea, and milk will bo provided. Harbour Light Theatre. "Tho Blue Lagoon," from the romantic novel by H. de Vera Stacpoole, will be repeated at the Harbour Light Theatre tonight, together with a comedy arid newsreel. To-morrow a double feature programme will be screened at both matinee and evoning sessions. The chief attraction is "The Claw," from the novel by Cynthia Stockley, and featuring Norman Kerry and Claire Windsor, and the other feature picture is "Afraid to Love," a laughable comedyromance starring Florence Vidor and Olive Brook. i On Monday (Labour Day) there will be a complete change of programme, with a special matinee. "Woman-Handled," a comedy romance, featuring Richard Dix, is the chief attraction. Ngaipahu Land Claim. In connexion with a Maori land claim known as the Ngaipahu, Mr E. Manihera, of Rapaki, has received the following telegram from the Prime Minister, Mr J. G. Goates:—
"Mr H. W. Uru, M.P., member for Southern Maori, has made representations to me to receiye a deputation in regard to the Ngaipahu claim. I have informed him that Cabinet has not "yet considered the Commission's report regarding this claim, and is not likely to during the present session owing to pressure of urgent legislative measures required to be put through. It would be a waste of money coming to Wellington to interview me at the present time. I could only tell the deputation that the Commission's report regarding the claim is still under consideration by the Government, and is not being overlooked." Bowling. The following will represent the Lyttelton Bowling Olub against Kdgeware in the pennant competition at Lyttelton to-morrow afternoon:—P. Maher, A. W. Parsons, W. Taylor, S. Sinclair (s) R.
