BRITAIN'S TRADE BALANCE.
WORSE THAN EVER BEFORE. (bt cable—pbess association—coptbioht). (austbalian and n.z. cable association.) LONDON, July 26. During the debate on the Board of Trade in the House of Commons, Sir Robert Home emphasised that but for the Dominion and colonial trade, the existing economic position in Britain would become infinitely worse. The balance of trade was worse than it had been at any previous time. Mr Lloyd George urged the necessity for British merchants having good agents in the Dominions. He said: "We lost heavily in regard to the sale of motors because, during the war, the best agents were captured by America."
Sir R. P. Cunliffe-Lister said the British manufacturers should hunt out buyers. If the firms could not afford individual selling agents abroad, they should combine to form a selling agency combination for representation abroad. This must bring good business.
