WAGES IN AUSTRALIA.
A GENERAL REDUCTION. (bi cable—press association—copxright). (Australian and n.z. cable association.) MELBOURNE, July 26. Reductions ranging from sixpence to two shillings a week in all the States, except South Au. ralia and West Australia, will take effect from August It in the rates of pay under all awards of the Commonwealth Arbitration Court. In Melbourne the basic wage will be fourteen shillings a day or £4 7s a week; in Sydney 14s 5d a day or £4 9s fid a week: and in Brisbane 12s 7d a dav or £3 18s 6d a week. No alteration occurs in Adelaide, while in Perth there will be an increase of sixpence a week.
