THE CARLTON BRIDGE.
TO THE EDITOH OF THE PBESS. i Sir, —"While so many people are int terested in the beautifying of the Avon 5 banks, may I add a.request, and that y is, that as soon as possible a new bridge y be built over the Avon where P» r j terrace joins Bealey avenue. The P res " | ent one can hardly be called a bridge. _ ! in fact, some of the country Councils would not even honour it calling it a culvert. I feel certain that 3 cars coming from a distance of B miles to cross this bridge will not have 1 run across during that distance any £ stucture so ricketty in appearance. And ■ moreover it is very dangerous. Aow and again an accident occurs and very > much oftener one is narrowly averted. . It is at an awkward angle, extremely i narrow, and altogether out of date, i and a perpetual eyesore to those living , in the vicinity. Willows and rivercleaners come and go, but the authorities seem to think that this bridge can go on for ever.—Yours, etc., 5 PONS.
