CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE UNION

On Saturday evening a successful social was held in the North Beach Peace Memorial Hall to celebrate the first birthdaj of the North Brighton Young Peoples Christian Temperance Union. Miss Irene Leaver (vice-president of the Union), pre-s-dod and welcomed the various representatives of other Union*. Mrs T.E Taylor (Dominion president of the W.C.T.U.) was in attendance and was presented wtih a posy of violets by Misses B. Scott and M. Nome. A part-song was contributed by the Nortn Brighton "Ye," Mim Eileen Lowiy singing the solo. The Rev. Charles Wickham was then introduced by the vice-president, and delivered a most instructive and interesting Address. A tableau entitled "Mm. Spmt of Light" was most effectively rendered V? the members, daring which MrsD..Goldman sang the Battle Hymn of the "Y's." The remainder of the evening was spent ing««*. a competition being won by Mrs H. umb and Miss M. Instone. Music (°'* h9 JW ™ provided .by Misses D. HuU andE. Norrie. During bupper a large b«tMay cake was cut by Miss Leaver, .Mitchell, president of th© New Brighton X Bianch, extended birthday greetings.
