FRAUD ALLEGED.
COMPANY DIRECTORS CHARGED. (PBEJS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAIt.) DUNEDIN, July &. The heaving was continued in the Police Court of the charges of false pretences against Alexander Campbell, manager, James Shaw Campbell, draper, Samuel Campbell, draper, Charles James Thomas Alexander Lowerv, valuer, Frederick William Bamfield, accountant, and Clifford Peel, salesman. Defendants, all of whom were directors of the New Zealand Motor and Engineering Company, were alleged to have obtained from the Otago and Southland Finance Corporation, Ltd., a;<d Traders' Finance Corporation, Ltd., Auckland, various sums by falsely representing that they or clients had purchased cars and paid deposits on them. There were six charges against the five first named, involving an aggregate of £2875, and all six were jointly charged on three informations aggregating £IISO. All the accused reserved their defence and were committed for trial, bail being allowed.
