CHILD'S FEET FROSTBITTEN.

DISTRESSING WAIMATE CASE,

There is a most distressing case in the Waimate Public Hospital at the present time of a little child minus its two feet owing to their having to be amputated on account of being frost-bitten (states our Waimate correspondent). About a month ago. a heavy fall of snow was experienced in this district, and when the snow was lying on the ground, the infant daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Turnbull, of Redcliff, was in the habit of walking on the snow without any shoes or stockings on, and eventually the feet became quite dead. The child was brought into the "Waimate Hospital, where the doctors finally decided that it was essential to amputate, and the operation was performed on Friday. The little sufferer is now doing as well as can be expected.
