INTEREST WANING.

COUNTRY TECHNICAL CLASSES. It was agreed at yesterday's meeting of the Camterbury Education Board that the supervisor be asked to draft a letter to the Department pointing out the regrettable fact that the interest in technical classes in country districts was decreasing, as the present regulations did not give sufficient encouragement to warrant the carrying on of the classes. The Board considered that the advantages of technical education should not be limited to the fortunate youth living near the large towns, but should be extended to country districts where the necessity for acquiring expert technical skill \va.s often more apparent in the country than it was in the town.
