TO NAPIER HOSPITAL. (PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.) NAPIER, January 20. Ihe late J. W. Coles, of Hastings, who died in the Napier Hospital on December 24th, left the whole of his estate, valued at £4OOO. to the Napier Hospital Board.
WEDDINGS. WATT-WOOD. The wedding was celebrated recentlv at St. Pain's Presbyterian Church, Christchurch, of Ethel Pons Irene, younger daughter ot Mr and Mrs J. s>. Wood 167, Bletsoe avenue, bpreydon, to James Arnold younger sou ot the Itev John and Mrs Watt, 1/ Churchill street, Christchurch The • ceremony was performed by the father of the bridegroom. The bride; who was given away by her father, wore a pretty white crepe de chine dress trimmed with radium lace and silver, and a pretty veil worked in each corner with silver spravs. She wore silver shoes to match "the dress, and carried » bouquet of "Christmas lilies and roses. Miss Alice Wood, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. She wore a rose-pink crepe de chine dress and black hat trimmed with pink to match the frock, and carried a pretty bouquet. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr J. 0. P. Watt. After the wedding ceremony a reception was held at the Dorothy Tearooms, where the. guests were received by the bride's mother. The bride's travelling dress was a hand-embroidered navy crepe de chine frock and tailored coat trimmed with fur, with hat to match.
IRWIN—PEPPER. A very pretty wedding was solemnised recently at St. John's Church, Latimer square, when Doris Maud, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. J. Pepper, was married to Henry Irwin, formerly of - North Ireland. The officiating minister was the Rev. J. F. Coursey, and Mr L. Richards presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a charming gown of ivory crepe de chine made on straight lines, with graceful panels niched at the low waistline, and bordered with silk shadow lace, which also trimmed the bishop sleeves. Her train of crepe de chine, daintily pin-tucked and finished with shadow lace, was lined with pale pink.. Her beautiful oval veil, which was handsomely embroidered, fell from a coronet of pearls, while a bouquet of white flowers with touches of pink was an effective finish to her toilette. Miss Phyllis Smith, of Timaru, who acted as train-bearer, was daintily frocked in white crepe de chine, with godets of narrow lace, and touches of pink, and she wore a circlet of rosebuds in her hair. Misses Amy Spreadbury and Maud Pratley were, the bridesmaids. They wore frocks of turquoise blue and begonia pink georgette respectively. Both frocks were fashioned alike, each with a semi-fitting bodice with handkerchief panels on the skirt, and posies of pastel shaded flowers on the shoulder. They wore crinoline hats to match' their frocks and carried bouquets to tone. Misses Thelma Voice and Ruby Pepper, cousins of the bride, acted as flower-girls, and wore pretty smocked dresses of crocus mauve. Their hair was banded with velvet leaves, and they each carried baskets of flowers. Mr A. .Cruickshank acted as best man, and Mr F. Whisker was groomsman. A. reception was held in the Oddfellows' Hall,, which was beautifully decorated with pink and mauve flowers, and a large silver bell hung over the bridal table. Mrs Pepper, who received the guests, wore a handsome frock of pale biskra crepe de chine, embroidered in Oriental shades. Her hat was the same shade, with a large floral motif across the front, and she carried a bouquet of carnations. Mrs E. Pepper and Mrs S. Niven, both grandmothers of the bride, were present. Both wore gowns of black and white, and black hats, and carried bouquets faf red carnations. # • A dance was held in the evening in the St. Asaph street Hall, when Mr and Mrs Pepper entertained over 200 guests. Wither's Orchestra' supplied the mußic. Mr V. Hahn acted as M.C. When the bride left for her, wedding tour, she wore an ensemble suit of bois de rose torraine, embroidered in Oriental shades, with coat of repp; and she wore a hat to match.
