Floods have followed the torrential rains in the coastal districts of Northcm Queensland. At one place eleven inches fell in four hours. Trains were unable to complete their journeys owing to the lines being awash. The Brisbane-Townsville line at Howard was three feet under water and the Herbert river is nino feet above its banks and is still rising.
