The loss which Wellington and the Dominion have suffered tlirougli the death of Lady Truby King was mentioned by Sir James Allen at tho Wellington Kotary Club, when he paid tribute to the valuable work she had accomplished during her life in New Zealand. Both she and Sir Truby King had been in Dunedin many years ago, and had co-operated in much splendid work on behalf ,of child welfare, and the health of women and children generally. Her death was a blow to Sir Truby himself,' and a loss to Wellington and Now Zealand. This reference was made during Sir James's comment upon the principle of service before self, and he coupled the names of Lady Truby King and the late Sir John Boss, of Dunedin," as two New Zealand citizens who had set an example in the observance of thoso principles.
