* POLICE SERGEANT'S HOUSE. The two rear rooms of a six-roomed house, 76 Patton street, Avonside, were destroyed by fire shortly before 2 o'clock yesterday morning. The house was owned and occupied by Charles Edward Eoach, the Senior-Sergeant of Police stationed at Christchurch. The fire started in the washhouso, and quickly spread to the two back rooms of the house. The two front rooms were saved by the brigade.
