SHIPPING NOTES. Tho Hains steamer Trelevan_ arrived at Lyttelton yesterday from Wellington to discharge New York cargo. The Storm should arrive to-morrow from Wellington. She takes in cargo here for Dunedin and Timaru. The present week has been a very busy one in the Port, with several liners in loading and discharging. Most of these will sail by the end of the week, but more are due next week. The Calm is due to-morrow from Timaru to load for Wellington and Wanganui. The Progress is now due to-morrow from tho south to load for Wellington, New Plymouth, and Waikato. The Wairau is to load at Lyttelton on Monday for Blenheim direct. The intercolonial steamer Moeraki is due at Lyttelton on February 3rd from Melbourne, via Bluff and Dunedin. She sails the same day for Wellington and Melbourne. The Katoa is expected on Sunday . from Dunedin, and on Monday she is to load for Auckland. The steamer Verbania is due at Lyttelton at the end of the week from Westport to commence loading for British and Continental ports. G. H. Scales, Ltd., are the Christchurch agents, and Rhind and Co. the Port agents. The Federal Company advises that the Northumberland, now discharging Liverpool cargo at Auckland, leaves to-day for Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers, to complete discharge. She is due at this port on January 2Sth. In continuation of her voyage from Los Angeles the American steamer Elkridge left Auckland on Tuesday afternoon for Wellington, where she is due to-day. From Wellington she will proceed to Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete discharge of her cargo. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Tekoa arrived at Opua" on Tuesday from Auckland. She was to leave there on Wednesday for Tokomaru Bay, Gisborne, and Wellington to complete her Homeward loading. The Tekoa is scheduled to sail from Wellington at the end of the month for London, via Panama. Captain J. Wilson, who recently retired after 42 years' service in the Northern Steamship Company, was presented at Auckland on Monday with a case of pipes by the members of the Merchant Service Guild. Captain Dorling, who presided, spoke in eulogistic terms of Captain Wilson's long service in the company. Captain Wilson recalled experiences during his career at sea, which commenced in 1572 in Baltic and Mediterranean coastal traders. He afterwards serTed in sailing ships of various types until he joined the Northern Company in the Mercurv Bav service in ISS-1. The John is due on Sunday irom Wanganui. and is to load here .in Monday for Wellington, Wanganui, New Plymouth, and llokiansu. The steamer Waimea. with sheep from Gisborne, is due at Lyttelton to-morrow, to the agency of Sutton ar.d Co. On discharging the sheep she will sail for Nelson.

The Cam, on the Wellington and Wanganui trip, is due to-morrow from the south. The Kamo is now set down for Wednesday from Oamaru, to load Wellington, Napier, and Gisbornc cargo.
