AVONDALE CLUB. ANNUAL REPORT. The eighth annual report o£ the Avondale Golf Club stated that the year closed with a membership of 273, an increaso of 00 over last year. Numerous inter-club matches wore played during tho season, the club, with one exception, being successful on all. occas-. ions. Tho season was opened on March sth with a mixed foursome flag match, when a comprehensivo programme was successfully carried through, A very considerable amount of work has been done on the course daring the year, and in the interests o£ longhandicap players the fairways . had been widened. During the year a triplex mower was purchased, and had already justified itself. ■ Last February the company paid all accrued interest to date, and made the first payment of £IOO towards the purchase prije of the links property. Further payments of £250 were required to be made during each of the next two years, when the balance of the purchase money had to be found. Tho balance-sheet and- accounts showed a small excess on expenditure over income of i'2S Os 7d for the year.
NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. At the monthly meeting of the Council of the I\*e.v Zealand Golf Association there were present—Messrs R. C. Kirk (chairman); J. B. McEwan, A. J. Ah'aoli, A. D. S. Duncan, and Captain Conway. Apologies for absence were received from \A". E. A. Gill and H. R. Balneavis. The bank balance was reported (a be £719. Regarding the professional' autumn tournament, at Holorua, on March 9lli,_lothy rind lltb, the secretary reported ' that tie programmes would "be circulated about tl;c end of this week.' .The -Rangitikei Golf Club, lSul.'s, which had been duly proposed and .seconded, was .elected a 'member of. .the Association.
