Chief interest in tho Dominion bowling tournament to-day centred on post-section play in the rinka championship. As a result, seven rinka are loft, namely, Stewart (Duncdin), two lives; Haydcn (Takapuna), two lives; and Walker (Auckland), Eenelicld (St. John's, Wanganui), Laurcnson (Carlton), Mcßobio (Remuera), and Pilkington (Hamilton), all with ono life. A feature of to-day's play was the defeat oi Harra-way (Giecn Island) by Filkiagton (Hamilton) in tho third round of the rinks championship. Harraway skipped the winning rink last year and Pilkington skipped tho 1925 champions. Tho Hamilton team began well, and at tha end of tho twelfth bead led 12—8. Fighting hard, the Green Island rink drew lovel at 17 all on tho eighteenth head. Tho Hamilton rink added three on the next, and Green Island one en thi twentieth, Hamilton thus being two vp on tho last head. In the final head, Pilkington was lying two when the skips changed ends. Harraway drovo hard and picked up the iack, which rebounded on to tho green. Had the jack gone in the ditch Harraway would havo been making the scores equal. As it was, lie lay tho shot, and Pilkington drew a second. Harraway again droyc with his Inst bowl, but failed, and PUkington's rink were the winners of an exceptionally cxcit'.ng PJ»m e - . Walker (Auckland)- and Smith (Dnncdin) met in.the third round. Smith led until the twelfth head, when Walker went ahead to lead 13-14. Everv subsequent head -was well contested, but the Auckland team was doing slightly hotter work. A four on tho seventeenth gave Walker » lead of seven, and, drawing in splendid style, he won tho g?me at the nineteenth hf-ad by 29 to 10. Two two-lifors, Hayden (Takapuna) and X Jfcßo'uo (Remuera), had a great contest in the third round, Havden winning by ono point. Both teams relied mainly on the draw, and some very fine heads wero binlt no.
