BUILDING PROPOSED
BY DRAINAGE BOARD. --Members of the-Drainage Board differ in' their.views as to what should be done with "The Bricks" site. At last night's meeting Mr 'J'. Tomlinsoji, chief inspector, wrote reporting that iince the demolition of the cottag" ;:ml shed at Barbadoes street, the weed-cutter had been anchored in Horseshoe Lake, and had been quite sate until December 21st. One of the men had found the cover torn off and' the tools, oil. etc.. missing. He had reported the matter to the police, but so far there had been no results. ilr 31 G Livingstone said that small bovs stole the tools off the weed-cut-ter, no matter where it was anchored in the river. , Air JI. J. Otlev (chairman) said there was onh- one solution—to erect a buildin ir in which to lock up the tools. Mr S. 0. Bingham said the erection of'anv building.on "The Bricks" site would not receive his support. The chairman said he could not agree with this remark. The Board had bought the land for the purpose ot erecting a building many years ago and it was one of the only pieces of suitable freehold land along the river I \ resolution was carried asking the chairman and Messrs BeanJandl and Livingstone to report ou the matter of a suitable building on the site.
