NOTES AND MEMORANDA.
The entries for the Canterbury Amateur Athlotic championships and handicap events on the programme to be held at the meeting at English Park on Saturday, January 29th, close with the secretary (Mr G. G. Lockwood) at 5 p.m. on Thursday. A train leaves at 9.15 a.m. on January 22nd for Little River for the City Council employees' picnic. A special general meeting of subscribers to the Royal Christchurch Musical Society will be held on Wednesday, January 26th, in the Durham street Methodist Bchoolroom. The Papanui Methodist Sunday School will reopen on Sunday. Pastor H. E. Piper will preach in a tent at the Show Grounds to-night. The annual meeting of the Lyttelton Miniature Rifle Club will be held in the Drill Hall on Thursday, at 7.30 p.m.
