FARMERS' TRAIN.
A RAILWAY PROJECT. Mr F Pawson, commercial agent in Christchurch for the Kailway Department, will leave this week for the West Coast, where ho will meet members of the famine community in connexion with the Department's proposal to run a farmers' train from the West Coast to Canterbury on the same lines as the trains which have been run successfully in the North Island in the past season. It is hoped to encourage an exchange of. visits of parties of formers bv the innovation. A special train will bring a West Coast narty to Canterbury first, the farmers m. a particular district being encouraged to billet the visitors. Branches of the Farmers' Union are expected to take the leading part in organising the visit, and on the train the farmers will be addressed on subjects. of interest by officers of the Agricultural and Railway Departments.
