The Tennessee State Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the antievolution law, but reversed the famous Scopes conviction of 1920 because Scopes was lined 100 dollars, whereas the legal limit to a fine by a Judge is 50 dollars. Trje decision is a result of Scopes's appeal against the verdict in the Dayton trial, at which the late William Jennings Bryan prosecuted and Mr Clarence Darrow defended.
