TRAIN BROKEN.
—_-*_— IN LYTTELTON TUNNEL. About nine o'clock oft Saturday morning a long goods twin was ifl the Lyttelton tunnel, proceeding toward the Heath Cote end, when the draw-bar of one of the trucks broke. The ehains, which are hooked up for Such an emergency, also pulled apart, and the train Was broken into two sections, fortunately the severing of- the brake'hose caused both sections of the train to stop instantly, as it is designed to do in such a case.
An investigation was made by the train crew; ' and as it Was foUnd impossible to connect the draw-bar again, the whole of tho train was backed out at the Lyttelton end.
Meanwhile the 8.55 a.m. passenger train from. Christchurch Had been considerably delayed at Heatheote, and it wan some little time before "schedule running was resumed.
