bH 11 **i* lei m\ -$m The rubber of "English Dunlop" is tempered by a method similar to that used in making steel—inasmuch as carbon is used to obtain that tough strength which, in the case of "English Dunlop," represents so many extra miles of service at no extra cost to the user. Just as carbon turns iron into steel, so similarly is rubber greatly strengthened when permeated with fine carbon powder. The finer the carbon powder the more thoroughly can the rubber absorb its fortifying properties, and the greater the strengthening effect. Like all craftsmen, Dunlop imagined first and produced next. First of all zinc was burned to get smoke powder called "zinc oxide." Then hydro-carbon gases and vapours were burned to obtain "amorphous carbon"—the finest of all carbon powder. Apart from rubber, these are the main ingredients of a perfect tyre tread, and the Dunlop method is the perfect way. Ask the "Dunlop" user which tyre has the longest wearing tread rubber and he will say:— "English Dunlop, of course" I m m e »« o, m ii I ® i i m. m n M 0 m SB i TTJ •/.a m ///A '/a w My the & U.IJ A mm & i &< «< m.
