Tho Dominion bowling tournament wa3 continued yesterday in idea! weather, with the commencement of tho post section play for.the rinks championship. At the end of tho day 09 teams had been reduced to 30, eight being two lifers and 22 ono lifers as follows: Two Lifers—Hosking (Carlton), Stewart (Dunedin), Laurcnson (Carlton), Meltobio (Itemuora), Jcnkin (Rocky Nook), Elvey (Devonport), Truscott (Carlton), Hayden (Takapuna). . Ono Lifers—Bcynon (Petone), Parsons (Ponsonby), Stephens (Kelburn), Bell (Hamilton), London (New Plymouth), Trayes (Mount Eden), 'Wooller (Remuera), Bcnofiold (St. John's), Smith (Dunedin), Morison (Epsom). Walker (Auckland), Smart (New Plymouth), Dee (Maitai), P. Jury (Fitzroy), James (Cambridge), Pilkington (Hamilton), Scrivener (Wanganui), Gordon (St. John's), Kerr (Mastorton), Harraway (Green Island), Pindlay (Mount Eden), Everitt (Otahuhu). THE PLAY. Swain (Melbourne) • met his first defeat in the post section play at the hands of Pilkington (Hamilton). Tho teams ■ wore level at halfway. Pilkington then piled on. points in groat style, and ran out a winner by 21 to 13. , All prospects of an Australian learn gaining premier honours wcro dispelled in tho next Tound, when Swain went down to Deo (Maitai) in a sensational game. Swain was sis up with two heads to go. Dee socured a two and a seven oh tho last two heads, and won by 23 to 20. The second round also spelt defeat for Pilkington. Elvey (Devonport) playod a determined and accurate game, and tho score was 16 all at tho last head. Bruce and Elvey both drew shots and the .Devonport rink won by two 1 points. Pilkington beat Redpath (Canterbury) in the third round. , Harraway (Green Island), last year s winnor, triumphed over Somoud (Auckland) after n close game. The score was 21-18. Harrawav continued his success in tho. second round, beating Rcdpalli by 19 points. r In the third round Elvey. (Devonport) bent Harraway. in a great game. Dohorty (Kelburn) went out as the result, of dofoats by Truscott (Carlton) and James (Cambridge). Naylor (Thorndon), whoso record of nino wins was unequalled in Hie inter-section play, showed a surprising reversal of form, being beaton by Mingins (Epsom) and Ti-ayos (Mount Edon). Thcro waß a margin; of one point in tho first, case, and nino m the ""■Kerr" (Maslerton) won his first two games and entered the third round, to be beatc/u by-Jenkin (New Plymouth). Tho team skipped by London had u closo tusslo with Woller (Remuera), arid was beaten 20-18. At its second venture it had a big win over Scantlobury (Auckland), and was then badly beaten by Hosking's team. Ho»arth (Canterbury) did not reach the third round through being defeated by MeEobie (Remuera) and Skoglund (Stratford). Boynon's (Petone) rink made a remarkablo.recovery against Parsons (Ponsonby.) in the first round.' The score at one stage was 22-10 against him, but he. kept at his tajt and .won by two points 2*-22. In his next game he was oxtended all the way by the crack Hamilton skip, Norrie Bell, but won by three points. Stewart (Dunedin) beat him-in the third round. Stewart had a closo call in the first round against Clarke (Kocky Nook), but was not seriously troubled by glanchard (Remuera).
