STOLEN CAR.
ARREST AND ESCAPE. \ ir-KES3 ASSOCIATION I'JiLEGEAiI.) TEAWAMUTU, January 14. Last evening .Constable Gibberson arrested two young men in an Ajax car believed, to have been stolen from 't'inui, AVairarapa. On arrival: at the police station one suspect, Gordon Brewer, ran away after leaving the car on the off-side. The constable locked up Edgar Peterson, and then, with Constable Hooker, went iu.Bcarch of Brewer. Heavy-rain was falling,'and.he-was unable to find the man, though-ho searched all night. This morning a report from Ohaupo indicated that an Essex car had been removed during the night, and it is believed Brewer took it. The police arc watching all the roads. Peterson was brought before tho Court to-day and remanded to Hamilton on Monday next.
