ARCHITECTURAL COMPETITION
The University of "Western Australia is inviting architects of the British Empire and of the United States .of America to submit designs for a group of buildings to cost about £150,000, which are to be built with funds t>equeathed to the University by the late Sir John "VVinthrop Hackett, the first Chancellor of the University. Sir Wintlirop was the proprietor 'of the "West Australian" newspaper, and under his will the University has received a bequest of £420,000. a part of which is to be used for buildings, and part for bursaries and research studentships for students, who otherwise would find it difficult to take up University work. The buildings are to include a ceremonial hall and a students' union building. Three premiums are offered of the value of £3OO (first), £2OO (second), and £IOO (third) respectively. The competition closes at Perth, Western Australia, at August 24th, 1927. Copies of the conditions regulating the designs may be obtained from the Clerk of Senate, University, Perth.
