A CANVAS CAMP.
SEVENTH DAY ADVENTISTS,
On Wednesday evening, the annual conference and camp meeting of the Seventh Day Adventists of South New Zealand opened proceedings at the Addington Show Grounds. During; the last few days, a canvas camp of about 90 families has sprung up at the Show Grounds. Delegates from Invercargill, Dunedin, lunaru, Blenheim, Nelson, Greymouth, and all parts of Christchurch hare taken up their abode for 12 days. Yesterday morning, Pastor t±. &. Piper, who recently arrived from New South Wales to take charge of tlie work of the denomination in tooutii New Zealand, occupied the chair during the conference proceedings in tne absence of the retiring president, 1 astor W. J. Westerman. who has been called to Sydney. The retirine president's annual report was read by Mr A S. Herbert, the secretarv of the conference.- lue report showed that the conference received from its various churches in South New Zealand the sum of £4<JUi> 2s Id In addition to these contributions to the work of -Hie conference, £2-198 15s 3d had been received for foreign missions. ' The total receipts from all funds except local church offerings, showed an average contribution a church member of £lB 9s 6d. Last evening, Pastor A. W. Anderson, of Svdney, preached on "Christ s Coming Kingdom."
