AGAINST SLAVERY.
BRITISH CAMPAIGN IN BURMA

DELHI, January 11,
Following the release of numerous slaves in Hukuwag Valley, in the southern Shan States of Northern Burma, last year, the Burmese Government has informed the Kachin Hills chiefs that slavery in their territory must cease. Compensation will he paid. It is estimated that 5000 slaves will receive their freedom.
As a result of the efforts of the tish administration in Baluchistan, the ruler of Kalat, a powerful chief, announces the total abolition of slavery.
