METHODIST CHURCH.
SYDENHAM CIRCUIT. The quarterly meeting of the Sydenham Methodist Church was presided over by the Rev. H. J. Odcll. There was a good attendance of officials. A welcome was extended to the newly-appointed officials, Messrs Davis and Garters. Messrs V, A. Sharp and-S. If. Maddren were reappointed circuit stewards for the ensuing year. Miss Bell, for tho Theological College fund. re ported that over £BO had been collected during tho year. The trust balance-sheet-was read and was very satisfactory, only » very small deficit being shown. The Rev. 11. .1. Odell reported that- the committee in connexion with the envelope system had gone into the matter, and Messrs Wright and MeCaughcrn were appointed to interview church members. The -retiring collection for the orphanage was £0 10s. Harvest thanksgiving j services were fixed for March 20th. A wel- ' come was extended to Mr G, Wright, superintendent of the branch Sunday School at Beckcnham. There was a roll number of 7ti, with five teachers, and prospects were very good. A senior Biblo Class has been formed by Miss Wright, secretary of the Sunday School. Mr Wright also spoke of the neod of church bervices for Beckcnham. A committee was formed consisting of Messrs Odell (Convener),' Dobbs, V. A. Sharp, and G. Wright, to deal with the matter. Mr Wright was thanked for his report. A committee was formed consisting of Messrs Odell (convener), Dobbs, Hulbert, . Hadfield, Wright, McCaughorn, Ricksrd (senior), and Rawlinson, with poSver to add, in connexion with tho church jubilee celebrations.
