RETURN OF MOSCOVITCH.
"THE FAKE."' The return visit after a. most su.-cessiu! world tour of tho famous actor, Maurice Moscovitch, and a- J. C. Williamson company of international artists, is tho next cttraction at tho Theatre iloyal, commencing to-morrow (Saturday) evening for a season of. ten nights. Tho opening production is "The Fake," by Frederick Lonsdale. The Eng-lish-speaking world has como to know Lonsdale as a great writer of brilliant plays that intrigue tho mind and tickle the sense.-. Lonsdale can take a. group of characters at random, and in a flash they arc in tho midst of plot and counter-plot working out some strange destiny that id nightly to hold the absorbed interest of thousands of people. In "Spring Cleaning" Mr Lonsdale gave a. comedy of abundant laughs and daring situations, handled in masterly style. In "Aren't We All" ho gave tho gay Lord' Greenham, a treasured memory. In each case—result, sensational succes. And now ho gives "Tho Fake," which Mr Maurice Moscovitch will present for the first time here. Seldom have J. C. Williamson, Ltd., announced a moro notable first night. The alliance- of a star of the Moscovitch calibre with an author of Lonsclalo's reputation is a theatrical event' of the lirst importance. What is "Tho Fake?" Who is "The V'ake " That would bo telling, and it would be a daring body who attempted to usurp Mr Lonsdale's job. Sufficient, then, that "The Faka" has tho true Lonsdale touch. One is in'tho thick of it with the first words. One's fancy is caught and held by the opening situation; one watches the development with greedy interest. Ono is made, to laugh, to grit one's teeth, t-o clench one's list--> with suspense, right up to the terrific climax. That is the Lonsdale way. The company supporting Moscovitch includes Xal- Madison, Ellen Pollock, Eileen Sparks, Alexander Sarner, J. B. Atholwood, (icoige. Blunt, Kiore King, Kcrrio Kelly, Leslie Donaghy, John Harper, and IvoginuM Ncwson. Following "The. Fake" Moscovitch will be seen as "Svengnli" in L)u Maimer's celebrated romance, "Trilby." In this part tin's popular actor is famous in four Continents. Other productions during tho 'season will be a revival for one night of "The Outsider," and the first staging here of n new and startling drama. "Thev Knew AVlmt They Wanted." The box plans for tho season arc open at The Bristol.
