Captain Bostock, of Bostock and Wonibell's Circus, was saved from death at Leicester by a. lioness springing upon a lion which had attacked him when he entered the cage to attend to a. sick cub. When the lion broke through the partition and started mauling him, tho lioness sprang on tho lion, and thero was a terrific fight, in which the cubs joined with tho mother and'succeded in dragging the lion off Bostock, who was able to crawl through the door, badly torn. . Tho fight continued till the animals were separated by attendants. This is the second time the lioness has saved Bostock.
