COOL BURGLARS.

A STOLEN SUPPER. [THE PRESS Special Service.] • AUCKLAND, January 12. Burglars who entered a shop in Parnell during Tuesday night cooked themselves a meal of bacon and eggs, sob the tab'le in a back room, and enjoyed their repast in comfort. Tho cash register was empty, but the thieves helped themselves to some goods in the shop before leaving. The scene of the burglary was a fruit shop in a corner black in tho course of construction and lias onij been occupied for about a iortnight. Entrance was apparently gamed through a back window leading to the living quarters, which are at present only used by the tenants during the day. Tho intruders made their way to the shop but, finding tho till empty, returned to the living room, where they discovered eggs and bacon in a cupboard. These they cooked on the gas stove as was shown by the discovery of a soiled frying pan this morning. It was obvious the visitors were in no hurry over their repast. A tablecloth, which had been placed ready to be sent to the laundry, was found on the table, when the tenants arrived to open the shop. This was covered with cutlery and chinaware while, from the remain* of food lying about, it was plain that two diners had enjoyed a hearty meal. On the table was a note addressed to the shopkeeper stating that if no money were found on the premises on the occasion of their next visit the burglars would "wreck the show." However, their departure was not taken empty-handed. About a dozen boxes of chocolates are missing in addition to bottles of soft drinks, a box of strawberries, and a quantity of fruit.
