OBITUARY.

i> MK 11. L, LEVESTAM. On -Saturday afternoon, Air Hubert Lawrence Levestam. district manager of the Wellington branch of the Government Life Insurance Department, ilied .suddenly. The lato Mr Levestam, whose home was at Ngaio, went for a Mvini, and when walking through the borough reserve afterwards, said his hands were numb. Me had not gone much further when he fell dead. Air Levestam was born at Nelson ;n 187 ii. His parents were very early .settlers ir\ the Dominion, his father. Mr H. L. Levestam, being one time member of Parliament for Nelson. Mr Levestam joined the Govern men t Life Insurance Department at the age of IG, and had been attached to the Department ever since. In 191G he was appointed manager of the YVaiiganui branch, and ten years later was made manager of the Christchurch branch. About four months ago ho was transferred to Wellington as manager there. Me was a prominent swimmer, and bowler, and took a special interest in swimming wherever he went. He leaves a wife and three young children. "Brothers -living are Air V. AY. G. New sol the sudden death of Air Neil Galbraith came as a great shock to his friends, many of whom he had met and conversed with during the past day or two. This morning be was found dead iu his b?d at hi.s residence iu Higligate, Tlcat.li having occurred during his sleep. The late Air. Galbraith was a wellknown figure;' in Dmicdin and other parts of New Zealand. lie joined the New Zealand Shipping Company forty years ago at Lyttelloti, and was afterwards translerred U> AVcllinglon, where he successively tilled the position of shipping clerk, accountant, and aotinguianager. Iu ID I-I he was transferred to Dunedin. and held the position of manager till about twu yea in ago. when ho became manager for Messrs .lului Alill and Co., a po-t he occupied at the time of his death. In Dunedin Air Calbrailh was for sumo years a member of the Olago Harbour hoard, and occupied the chair of that body for a term. In his youthful days be was a member of the Lyttelten" Bowing Club, and when lie went l(» Wellington he joined the Star Boating Club, of which lie was secretary lol ' •many years. He was al>o an cnthusiasticjvugby Tnion I'outbnller. taking a keen interest in the administrative side when ho gave up the game. For a number of years he was treasurer of the New Zealand J'ughy Union, and for some tinui was chairman of the Management Committee. In l!)i>"> he managed the New Zealand team which toured New South Wales prior to the departure of the original All Blacks for Great Britain. He al*o conducted Beddell Sievwrighl.'s British team throughout New Zealand iu hi!)I on behalf of the Now Zealand Rugby Union. In recent years Air Galbraith hail always been an ardent follower of the game, and few matches were missed by him. He leaves a wife, two sons, and a daughter. One son is employed with Messrs Walter Hill and C 0.," Chrideliurch, and the other is with the Bank of New Zealand, Dunedin.
