Nominations eloic to-day for tlie Tapauui Racing Club's Animal Meeting. Acceptances for the Wairio J.C.'s Annual Meeting close to-day. Friday next will be a busy day with owners throughout New Zealand, for on that date nominations will be taken for the Egmont and Gisborno Summer Meetings, Dnncdin Autumn Meeting, and Te Kuiti and Rotorua Racing Clubs' Annual Meetings. On the same day acceptances fall due Jor meetings to bo held at Bay of Islands, Foxton, and Wellington. The acceptances received for the Ashburton County Racing Club's Meeting, to be held on Saturday next, are numerous enough to ensure a day's first-class sport. The great inajitiar of horses engaged arc from Riccarton stables, but there is a fair representation from the south, including John Bradbury, who will probably start favourite in the Tinwald Handicap. A ■pecial horse train will leave Christchurch for Ashburton at 6.30 a.m. on Saturday, and the loading of horses must be completed by 6.a.m. A special passenger train will leave Christchurch at 10.10 a.D)., stopping at Sockburn, Tcmplcton, Rolleston, Dunsandel, -and Rakaia, arriving at Ashburton at 11.56 a.m. It will leave Ashburton station on t'no return journey at 5.20 p.m., and the aaloyards siding at 5.45, arriving in Christchurch at 7.47.

H. Emerson's stable will be represented at Ashburton by Queen's Bounty, 'while Assurance will bo a competitor at the Wellington Meeting. Battlement and Limerick aro going nlong satisfactorily in the tasks allotted them at Riccarton. Both have been nominated for events in Australia and will probably race there if everything goes right in tho meantime. Glentruin is going along satisfactorily tinder the caro of T. H. Gillctt, and, all going well, will probably be seen under silk at the nest Dunodin Meeting. Gillett has a, good string engaged at Ashburton on Saturday, the number including Prophet's Mark, Violet 11., Satrap, and Ma Mul.

Oriflarub, Nincompoqp, Saxcttc, Ascetic, and Nunumi returned from the West Coast on Monday. P. B. Jones's mounts at Ashburton on Saturday will be on Economist, Thorndale, Tiff, and Sir Eoy. TROTTING NOTES. Nominations for the Cheviot T.C.'a Annual Meeting close on Saturday. An excellent number of nominations have been receivod by tho Forbury Park T.C. for its Summer Mooting. The fields in the principal race each day, the Dunedin Cup and the Forbury Handicap, are strong, and include Onyx, Logan Lou, Nelson Derby, Golden Dovon, Black Admiral, Kohar«, Tajaro, Jack Potts, and Downcast, while Jn tho unhoppled eventß nro such useful performers as Money Spider, Bonny Spec, Master Audo, Lo Todd, Happy Rosa, Charles Dixie, Engagement, and Escapade. W. J. Tomkinson's stable is strongly represented at Forbury Park, and Nelaoil Derby, Elzoa'r, Dlroct Wood, Happy Rosa, and Rose Pointer are ifreoly nominated. R. B. Berry's team to race at Forfcury Park is likely to includo Sea Pearl, Escapade, and Golehill. All, three hors.es raced at Auckland last month, and aro in first-class fettle. The Auckland Cup winner, Talaro, is engaged at Forbury Park and in view of his excellent form-at Aloxandra Park last month, his prepenco in the field should 'add interest to the Meeting. ' The fact that only five three-year-old trotters remain in the New Zealand Trotting Stakes, ,to be decided on the concluding day of the Forbury, Park T.C.'a Summer Meeting, is not very encouraging to the officials of the Clnb. The race carries 350sovs and such a useful stake is worthy of better support from owners and breeders. B. Jarden is now in possession of B. JJ. Mills' stables at New Brighton, where he will continue in his profession as a public trainer. Princo Pointer, Kotuku Jack, and Actor will in future bo trained by Jarden. Pattjo Alto and Whakuku have finished their racing career in Now Zealand, and will shortly be shipped to Perth, W.A. Owing to a.:rccent injury, Willio 3'iOgao Has boen placed out' of commission?

Since being trained at Addington, Dixie Fox has not fulfilled expectations snd P. Elddlo has decided to return her to Australia. 15. E, Mills has taken charge of the trotting maro Kose Bjngen. It is reported that he will pormanontly settle in the North.

The trotting mare, Rita Huon, has been retired from the racing track as ■ho has proved in foal to Peter Chenault.
