BEAUTIFUL CHRISTCHURCH HOMES. "WEEKLY PRESS" H.LUSTBA. TIONS. Chrotcburch, the metropolis of the Canterbury provincial district, is fittingly known as the "Garden City" of New Zealand. Generously adorned with trees and parks, it is rich m beautiful flower-gardens, orchard?, and grassy open spaces. Typical specimens of the beautiful. homes and # their charming surroundings, of which the City is justly proud, are pictured in this week's issue of the "Weekly Press." Delightful residences of varied arohiteotual design are shown, with gardens brimming with beautiful shrubs and flowers. Some of the homes are set on fairly sloping hanks, where they are reflected in the clear waters of the Avon. Features of the week include ft number of sporting events. The find stages of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Championships at Auckland are il» lustrated, with portraits of the new champions. Some of the victorious Wellington crioket players, who defeated Canterbury in the Plunket Shield contest are given. A number of illustrations picture the South Canterbury Caledonian Societv's annual sports, and pictures are included of the Canterbury Rifle Championships. Among the holiday snapshots is a series illustrating the annual gala of Pleasant Point, South New Brighton, a fine group of hoys at the Y.M.C.A. Hoys' Gordon Ball camp at Kairaki Peach, and the annual regatta at Russell, Bay of Islands, an important event for New, Zealand yachtsmen. Surf competitions held at New Brighton for the Ray Blank Cup, the Benson Shield, and the Sumner Cup are featured.

The big reunion of old pioneers at Westport for the Buller Diamond Jubilee celebrations is another feature of interest. Other items are the laying of the foundation stone of the new Presbyterian Church at Fendalton, scenes on the Skipper's road, near Queenstown, and personalities- in the news.
