MOTOR SMASH VICTIM.
INQUEST OPENED.
The inquest concerning the death of Mrs Ivy Boon, the victim of the motor jmash on the corner of Buckley's and Page's roads on Sunday night, was opened before the Coroner, Mr H. P. Lawry, at the Hospital yesterday. Henry Leonard Mooar, a pattern maker residing at 7 Anderson stre ' Lower Eiccarton, identified the body as that of Ivy Louisa Boon, his late rister-in-ia,v - , The inquest was then adjourned sine die.
DRIVER CHARGED.. Yesterday James Ludeman Jlatthows, taxi-driver, was charged with recklessly driving a motor vehicle, thereby causing the death of Ivy Louisa Boon. Sir H P. I/awry. S.M., was on the bench, and Chief Detective Lewis pro*' Chief Detective Lewis said that accused was arrested that day and had not been "able to consult a solicitor. In asking for a remand until January 18th, the Chief Detective said that acrused was a married man, who owned some property, and there was no reason why ordinary bail should not Matthews was remanded until Janu. ary 18tb. Bail was allowed, self m |joo, and one surety of £2OO, or two of £IOO. each*
