MEETING OF CENTRE. j CANTERBURY TEAM SELECTED, i A meeting of tho Canterbury Centre of tlie Xe-.v Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was held last night. Mr M. E. Lyons (president) was in the chair, and there wa3 a good attendance of members. I It was decided that the request of the Wbarenui. Club to bold its carnival on March 3rd be acceded to, and tho programme aa submitted was approved. Permission waa also granted for the Canterbury Mile championship to bo swum at the carnival. The programme submitted by tho Christchurch Club -was approved. The United Club forwarded a suggested programme for its carnival-on February Ist. It was decided that the 100 yds .intermediate boys' championship and the 220 yds intermediate girls' championship be added to the programme, which was approved. It was announced that, if the necessary money was forthcoming, the following Canterbury representatives would be sent to Auckland to compete in tho -\ew Zealand championships: Senior events: D. P. Lindsay, C. Herd, Mr 3 M. Thomson. Intermediate .girls: Miss D. Brcwaifd. Junior girls: Mis 3 V. Berry. RUAPUNA CLUB. The ltuapur.a Swimming Club opened the season on Saturday, when tho first carnival of the season took.place.. Tho weather was exceedingly warm, but slight showers fell throughout the aiternoon. Thcro wa-3 a good attendance. Mr F. Tasker acted as handicapper, Mr G. Ross as starter, and Mr J. Mooro as timekeeper. Tho results were as follows:--33 1.-3 yds—l. Lambio (3sec) 1, D.
