PALMERSTON NORTH TOURNAMENT. ELIMINATING ROUNDS. irKE6S ASSOCIATION TELEaEAM.) PALMEKSTON N., January 10. The Palrnerslori North tennis tournament was continued in glorious weather to-day, when the eliminating rounds were pushed a stage, further. Owing to the lateness of the New Plymouth and Auckland tournament, and Wanganui's match with the New South Wales touring team, a number of the leading players were late in arriving, and in only a few instances did the champions clash. The most important singles match was that betwoen T. Clark (Auckland) and Don France, tho last-named boing defeated, C-3, 6-5. Three strong pairs—Wilson and Park (Wellington); Clark and Robson (Auckland), and Haege and Malfroy—remain to fight out the doubles championship. Mrs Melody and Miss Spiers should have no trouble with the ladies' doubles, nnd these two players are likely to contest tho final for the singles honours. To-day the New South Wales tourists will meet what is practically a New Zealand repre-' .sentative team, strengthened by the inclusion of Haege (Victoria), in an exhibition match. The following have beem chosen to moot the tourists:—E. D. Andrews, P. Haege, N. Wilson, D. France, Malfroy, and E. T. Kobson. /•
