FIREMEN'S COMPETITIONS. On Saturday a competition in lire brigade .events was held at the headquarters elation by the members of the btaff. Satisfactory entries were received, and a food day's sport resulted. The officials were: Messrs \V. Juries anil W. Ciiininings, examiners; Superintendent C. C, Warner, judge; Deputy-Superintendent C. J, Blake, time-keeper; Foreman C. Millington, starter. The rcEults of the events were:— Gilbert Memorial (one-man coupling)— Fireman 11. Hughes (scr) 1, Fireman W. P. Grcnfcll (Msec) 2, Fireman R. Thomson (7see) .3, i'iremau A. <J. Hadler (6sec) 4. Times, ."6 3-ssec, 37 4-, r iscc, oSscc, S3 3-ssec. There were 23 competitors. Hose nnd Hydrant (wet), two men—J. Hepburn and W. J. Smith 1, W. A. Martin and F. 3. Williams 2, A. Hauler and J. McKenzio 3. Times, 39 4-ssoc, 45 3-uscc, 46sec. I'our Men .(motor), wet —Firemen 0. H. Lilly, E. J. Bond, J. C'allagban, and A. J. Linton, 1; Firemen P. J. Taylor, R. Cox, J. McKeuzie, nnd 0. Dodd 2; Station-Officer H. Hughes, Firemen A. E. Hadler, W. Smith, and D. Davidson 3. Times, 55sec, 56 3-ssec, 57 3-ssec. The winner of tho gold medal was Fireman A. E. Hadler. (148 1-5 points), with Fireman W. J. Smith runner-up. Tho prizes will be presented at a smoke concert to be held at the station on Tuesday night.
