Tire Brigade Calls. The Ashburton A'oluntec Fire Brigade has experienced a quiet year, there having been only Tj calls as against 'JS jin the previous year. The monthly meeting of the Ashlmr- , ion Sub-Association was held on Tliursclay evening, the president, Mr IT. B. Milliehamp. presiding. It was decided to obtain :i thoroughly representative team with a view to .•hallcnghig tor the Hawko Cup. The South Canterbury Cricket Association wrote defaulting to Ashburton in the competition tor theIlawke Cup. It was agreed to apply for live shares in New Zealand Cricket, Ltd. As requested by the New 'Zealand Cricket Council, it was resolved to ascertain how many players in the County would be available for selection for the English tour. .It was agreed to write asking the South Canterbury Association to submit a suitable | date for a senior representative match ~o»,hist (he Ashburton Sub-Association, to-be plaved at Geraldiue. Owing to a dispute in the score of the last match between Tinwald and High School A in the Junior B Crade, the match was directed to ho played again.
