WAIMAKARIRI RIVER TRUST ELECTION. Dallcy, Sullivan, and 'U'insor stand for a sound and economic policy of river protection, and by voting for tliem on Tuesday they will save the City several thousand pounds per year in rates. It is encouraging to learu th;it these three progressive candidates are ' receiving strong support from unexpected quarters. They are to be congratulated on the keen and intelligent interest they have displayed in. the matter of river control and'in placing their services at the disposal of the Christchurch Ratepayers. In marked contrast is the attitude of the Christchurch Citizens' Association who selected four candidates, and who have now retired into the background taking-no steps publicly to show reasons why their nominees should bo selected. It is most singular that whilst the Association profess to oppose the Trust, they include one of the most consistent supp 'iters of the Trust in their selection.
